Document Retention Notice

What we keep, why we keep it, and how long it stays in your secure portal.

Prepared returns and supporting documents

Copies of returns we prepare, together with the source documents used to prepare them, are retained for a minimum of three years from the filing date, consistent with federal recordkeeping expectations for paid preparers.

Signature and consent records

Electronic signature records — including consent, timestamp, IP address, device information, and the document hash — are retained with the signed document version so the signature remains verifiable.

Billing records

Payment records and receipts are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. Full card numbers are never stored by RainTax+; only the card brand and last four digits are retained.

Portal availability

Your completed return remains downloadable in your secure portal for as long as your account is active. We recommend downloading and storing your own copy after filing.

Deletion requests

You may request deletion of your account and documents. We will honor the request except where retention is required by law or by professional recordkeeping obligations, and we will tell you which records must be retained and for how long.

Template notice

Retention periods stated here are provided as a template and must be reviewed and confirmed by qualified legal counsel before production use.
